Individual psychotherapy

Receive ongoing support for self-awareness, healing, growth, clarity, and alignment with purpose.

Psychology stems from ancient greek words meaning The study of the soul

My clinical practice—honed over 15 years of experience and training—weaves together trauma-informed, Internal Family Systems, relational, decolonial, and animist perspectives. Using these frameworks, I view each person as a unique soul seeking expression, purpose, reconnection, and liberation from the echoes of personal, intergenerational, cultural, and historical wounds.

“If you have a deep scar, that is a door, if you have an old, old story, that is a door.

If you love the sky and the water so much you almost cannot bear it, that is a door.

If you yearn for a deeper life, a full life, a sane life, that is a door.”

— Clarissa Pinkeola Estes

My therapeutic approach

We begin with the assumption that you are a multiplicitous, sacred, and inherently valuable human being. You already have everything you need to heal, and our relationship can affirm and enhance that capacity.

As a deeply attuned companion through your psychic and social landscapes, I bring my own humanity into connection with yours so that we can have vivid, safe, real, and impactful encounters. My style has been described as warm, relatable, playful, insightful, clear, and boundaried. I’m committed to ongoing learning and my own healing in order to be present and available for my clients.

Often, people come to therapy in the midst of a crisis, finding themselves unable to continue with the status quo, afraid of change, and overrun with internal chaos and pain. With steady and compassionate witnessing, you may learn over time that old patterns, coping strategies, and self-limiting beliefs have outlived their usefulness, and can eventually allow yourself to release the pain buried within. This process can free up vital energy, allowing you to embody more ease, compassion, confidence, creativity, vibrancy, and trust. Our work can help restore your dignity and belonging, increase inner harmony, rewrite the major narratives of your life, and allow your truer selves to emerge.

My approach can address a wide range of concerns, including complex PTSD, dissociation, depression, anxiety, rumination, perfectionism, people-pleasing (fawning), self-criticism, addiction, chronic shame, and strong swings of emotion. I’m particularly well suited for people who have experienced past therapies of limited usefulness, and are seeking a more complete, non-pathologizing, and empowering approach.

 FAQs

  • Contact me for a free video consultation. I'll introduce myself, answer any questions, and discuss your needs for treatment. If you choose to move forward, we'll schedule an appointment for an initial 50-minute consultation.

In that session, you'll have a chance to see how I work as we discuss your history and treatment goals, and see if we're a good match. I'll provide my impressions and treatment recommendations, and provide referrals if I don’t think we’re a good fit.

  • For a 50-minute session, my fees are $200 (Maryland) and $300 (New York).

  • I am an out-of-network provider for most insurance companies. This means that after you meet your deductible, most insurance providers will reimburse you for a portion of the session fee. I can provide a superbill with the information you need for reimbursement.

Check with your insurance company about your out-of-network insurance benefits for mental health services.

    Some questions you may ask:

    • Is a pre-authorization or referral from a physician required for treatment?

    • What is my deductible amount? How much do I have remaining?

    • What percentage of the psychotherapy session fee is reimbursed?

    • Is there a maximum covered amount per session?

    • Is there a limit on number of sessions covered per year?

    • When does the year begin?

    • Are certain diagnoses covered/not covered?

    • How do I file a claim?

  • In general, I offer 50-minute sessions, once or twice weekly, depending on your needs and preferences. On occasion, 60-90 minute sessions are a better fit.

Any decisions about frequency or session length stem from an evolving, collaborative process between us.

  • It’s really up to you and your intentions for treatment! The majority of my clients remain with me long-term (a year or more) as they find that once they meet their initial treatment goals, psychotherapy becomes a valuable part of their lives to help foster growth and healing.

That said, powerful work can be done in a short period of time and you are always free to stop at any time for any reason.
